The King of Xbox Live will be getting a series of Anime Shorts. Titled "Halo Legends", the Anime will include events in the Halo Universe that we may and may not have played:

"Microsoft's new project, which it's announcing Thursday at Comic-Con for the first time, is a series of seven shorts set in the Halo universe and done in Japanese anime style.

Anime geeks will recognize the five production houses working on the films -- Bones, Casio Entertainment, Production I.G., Studio4[Degrees]C, and Toei Animation -- as well as the creative director helping to oversee production for Microsoft: Shinji Aramaki, director of "Appleseed" and "Appleseed Ex Machina."

Microsoft is financing and overseeing production through 343 Industries, its new internal division that's in charge of everything Halo. It's planning to preview them on the online gaming service Xbox Live this fall and has then enlisted Warner Bros. -- the game companies still need a little help from Hollywood -- to release them on DVD, Blu-ray and other digital platforms in early 2010."

Rockstar has announced the release date for the next 360 exclusive episode. The Ballad of Gay Tony will be available for download for 1600 Points ($19.99) and together with the Episodes from Liberty City, which will retail for $39.99 on October 29th.

While today we get to enjoy the first release for the Summer of Arcade, take a peek at the last and definitely not least game, Shadow Complex. Below is Gameplay from G4TV.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, as you might know, is a prequel to the 2006 game, Call of Juarez. This game explains the reasoning behind why Ray McCall became a reverend and decide to put down his weapons. We also get to see more about Thomas McCall and how he and his brother dealt with the war and the negative events that occurred in their life. What you get with this game is a solid story backed up with satisfying gameplay, alongside some great multiplayer thrown in for good measure.

Bound in Blood allows you to play as both characters, and with the exception of playing a few parts differently, the overall story remains the same. The McCall family stick by one another and starting out as Ray, you try everything in the beginning to look for your brother, even through both brothers have assigned post during the civil war. The McCall's get back together, you both leave your post to check on your Brother back home, and your sick Mother. This upsets your commanding officer, and even after the war is over, he vows to find and kill Thomas and Ray one day. The story consists of great elements surround brotherhood, greed, betrayal, and justice, all the things that make this game so great in my opinion.

The majority of the game allows you to pick which brother you want to play as, and each offer different abilities and weapons to choose from. Ray is tougher, and is pretty excellent with a shotgun and can duel wield, while Thomas can get to higher ground, and use a bow, which cause tremendous damage to his enemies when they hit. Both characters can also collect money and upgrade their guns, which will help a lot later in the game. As well as different guns to use, each McCall brother has a special gun-slinging ability that can help clear an area pretty quickly. Playing as either will give you the same story, but the gameplay experience can be a little different, so I would recommended playing through once as each brother for the full experience.

The visuals in this game are pretty great as well. The Chapters where you have side missions are the best because you can just explore the massive areas on horseback, all while a great western soundtrack plays. These parts of the game are truly immersive and it's kind of a bummer you don't to explore that much during the mostly linear game.

Multiplayer is standard, but a few modes offer a unique and fun experience. As you progress in the modes, you unlock different classes of characters that have different weapons and traits. There are also plenty of multiplayer achievements to unlock, so trying out the multiplayer can also help increase your gamerscore.

Overall this is a great summer game and on the potential sleeper hits of the year in my opinion. Great game with a great story, shooting mechanics, and also, when you have to duel, it so friggin sweet!

+ Great Visuals, Soundtrack and Storyline
+ Nice Prequel that compliments the original game
+ Cool Duels when they happen and great free-roaming parts
- No Co-op. Everything for a great Co-op game is there.

The DVD release of Watchmen is here alongside the Retail version of the End is Nigh Part 1 & 2 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The PS3 Version includes the Blu-Ray edition of the movie and costs 49.99, and the Xbox 360 version just includes the games for 29.99. Overall today is a big day for watchmen fans.

"Watchmen: The End is Nigh Parts 1 & 2 combines the two Watchmen game episodes to further explore the origins of Rorschach and Nite Owl. Watchmen: The End is Nigh Part 1 follows Rorschach and Nite Owl as they track down the evil Underboss, who has broken out of prison and set his violent thugs loose in New York City. The city needs saviours and only masked vigilantes will answer the call."

PROTOTYPE, after a few delays, has finally arrived this summer, and offers some open-world and super powered action to enjoy. Although it shares a few similarities with inFamous, this game is mostly different, and much more violent, and unfortunately, very frustrating at times.

Let's start with the many positives that Prototype has going for it. The story, for instance, is pretty well put together, although there is the cliche: man has amnesia, man needs to find out what happened to him thing, only this time, crazy powers are involved. As Alex Mercer, you must uncover the truth behind the infection of New York City, as well as the origin to your powers. You start the game with most of your major moves to use, and then later on are striped of them, Ala Metroid. But don't worry, you will gain most of them back pretty quickly and even faster as you progress the story.

Another great positive are the powers and upgrades themselves that you can receive. There are a ton to unlock, and each will help you tremendously later in the game when you face the big guns and hard missions. Besides the powers, which include Blades, Shields, and whips, you will also be able to upgrade the Speed, Strength, and recovery rate of Alex. One of the coolest and most useful powers is the ability to consume people. Need to sneak into a military base undetected? Try consuming a high ranking officer that will have easy access to the bases. Need a quick disguises? Consume the many civilians walking around. The benefits of consuming are high, and there are even people scattered throughout the city that have clues to what exactly happened, and the only way to get that information is to consume.

While the powers are great, it seems that even the fully upgraded ones still can't help you when it comes to the many annoying enemies you will face, and the addition of a semi-functional lock-on will not help much either. I can't believe there is an achievement in this game where you have to beat the game without dieing once, because I died about 50 times towards the end. I played on normal and love challenges in game, like Veteran mode on the Call of Duty Games, but there is a big difference between a game being challenging and frustrating. One example would include the fact that to start missions you must be undetected to the high military presence in the game. When you get caught, you must run and hide until things calm down, but when caught, it's like having 6 stars in GTA while trying to complete an escort mission. I'm sure even on easy it will still be hard to beat the game without dieing once.

That is probably the negatives of the game, but everything else is fine. There are fun side missions to do that reward experience points, which are needed to upgrade and unlock more abilities and many fun story missions to complete. The violence level is pretty high in this game too, which bodies splitting in half, and heads going flying. The crazy thing too is that if pedestrians get in the way, they too will fall victim to your powers, which makes for some gruesome results when upgrading your powers. In my opinion, it is the most violent open-world game yet.

Overall this game is a lot of fun, but also very challenging at times which wrongly turns into annoying frustrations. Prototype is pretty lengthy too, and getting all the achievements will take some time too. Will you help Alex Mercer find the truth while keeping your cool?

+ Great Story and Visuals as well as a great character to control
+ Tons of Powers to unlock and upgrade
+ Brutally fun and violent
- Frustrating enemies and Missions towards the end
- Hit & Miss Lock-On Ability
- No Co-op that was planned in the beginning of development. An extra hand would have been much appreciated.

SUMMER OF ARCADE 2009

Splosion Man kicks off the summer of arcade this week with a, well, explosion! The Creators of the Maw are back with another cool looking Arcade game:

"Fools they were, to tread where knowledge should stay forbidden. For what emerged was not a man—it was Splosion Man™. "And all who saw him were 'sploded, for he was the fire and they were but meat." Able to 'splode himself at will, Splosion Man launches his way through levels, an uncontainable force. From Twisted Pixel Games, developer of the award-winning The Maw, comes a single- or co-op multiplayer experience that 'splodes like no other."

XBOX LIVE PREVIEW UPDATE

Like with the NXE, Microsoft is once again allowing a few thousand gamers a chance to check out the new updates a little early than everyone else. You can sign up here http://tr.im/livepreview and be sure to have you Console ID, and Serial Number ready.

MAP PACK 3

And last but not least, is the announced of Map Pack 3 for Call of Duty World At War. It will once again add 3 new multiplayer maps, and one new Zombie Map to play on.

"Reinforcements are scheduled to arrive for one of the most-played online multiplayer games, as Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) and developer Treyarch, confirmed plans today to deliver Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 3 in August. Map Pack 3 will feature three multiplayer maps (“Battery,” “Revolution,” and “Breach”), co-developed with partner Certain Affinity, and one new Zombie map (“Der Riese”), for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. Visit www.CoDWaW.com for more details."

The Xbox Dashboard has been steadily improving since it's release. The arrival of the New Xbox Experience last year was the most drastic, and soon more additions to the interface will included. A few of the new changes include Games on Demand, Avatar Marketplace, Movie Party, and The Ability to Rate Content. Rather than list a bunch of text about the update, I have a few pics from Engadget's Dashboard Pics. Check them out!
